. good morning, delia. >> reporter: hey, mike. good morning, andrea. the snow is falling here in suitland. i'm in my car because the biggest challenge that you will face likely this morning is driving on these snowy side streets. many ever the main roads we've been running into, those look good but the side streets still lots of snow. so this is where you're going to find a lot of problems. the snow is really light at this point. light and fluffy snow but it's really causing a lot of trouble on the side streets. it can be very, very slick. stopping is a problem. so either drive in a low gear or just very slowly. also another word of advice, brush off the snow off your car. the snow is so light i can literally brush it off with my hand. aaa said a lot of the hazards on the road are caused by drivers who don't brush off the snow creating some hazards for the drivers behind them. and that causes some visibility issues of course. so you have to take care of that as well. make sure you have good tread on your tires. i know monika just had a great little spot segment with someone talking about

in brazil. mike taibbi has the latest. mike, good morning. >> good morning, savannah. it has been a dead lly combinatn in the past, a nightclub filled with revelers and pyrotechnics and few too ways to escape led to panic. in santa maria, it was packed with its usual saturday nightclub when, at 2:00 in the morning, disaster. a swift-moving fire filled the ground-floor club with thick smoke. witnesses said club security initially blocked several emergency exits, thinking p patrons were leaving without paying and that left only a few ways out. in the ensuing panic, some victims were trampled. most died of smoke inhalation. many witnesses told police this fire was triggered by the use of some incindiery device on stage. >> the band used fireworks and as we heard it was usual for this presentation but the ceiling was too short. >> reporter: some club goers who did make it out joined firemen and onlookers in their attempt to open new exits using sledge hammers and axes. victims were carried to ambulances and other vehicles and were quickly moved to the trauma center. >> scattered around the hospi

of the country. the weather channel's mike seidel is in knoxville, tennessee, where they're cleaning up today now that the worst appears to be over. mike, good morning. >> reporter: and good morning, lester. here in knoxville, temperatures stayed above freezing all night. so the ice from yesterday has melted. take a look at the streets yesterday. we had freezing rain for nine hours. about .4 inch of ice. this shut down a lot of roadways, hundred of accidents here up through kentucky, the carolinas. one fatality in the upstate of south carolina due to icy roads. power was not a big issue. only 4,000 customers, about 2% of the power base lost power here in knoxville. to the north, it was snowfall. let's head up to the buckeye state. in columbus, several inches of snow. this did not drop a lot of snow. amounts generally one to two inches. a swath from columbus into allegheny county near pittsburgh. cars were slipping and sliding on the roadways there. and in chicagoland, they finally got their first inch of snow after 335 days. the record streak ends. lester, you being from chicago can appreciate th
